Dovedale Class
Our class is named after the picturesque valley of Dovedale in Derbyshire. In the Peak District, Dovedale is famous for its stepping stones and its impressive limestone ravines. The River Dove flows through Milldale, Wolscote Dale and Beresford Dale and is between 2 to 3 miles long! From Dovedale, you can look onto the top of Thorpe Cloud, which is an isolated limestone hill sitting between the villages of Ilam and Thorpe, right on the border of Derbyshire and Staffordshire. Thorpe Cloud’s highest point is 287 metres tall and a lot of people like to climb to the top of it to see the amazing views of the Peak District. We will be discovering more about our class name throughout the year and completing some artwork based on its landscape.

Autumn 2 - Stone Age Rocks!
This term we are going to time travel back to the Stone Age. We will be learning about when the Stone Age period was and what life was like. We will be creating our own cave paintings and making Stone Age Stew!
Throughout our English lessons, we will be studying the book 'The Stone Age boy' and creating our own narrative based on this. We will be learning the difference between a common and proper noun and we will be creating expanded noun phrases.
We will then create instructions; we will be applying skills we have learnt to include imperative verbs, adverbials of time and adverbs.
Our homework project this term is linked to our RE work of Hinduism. As the new Prime Minister (Rishi Sunak) is a Hindu, the children have been asked to write a letter, draw him a picture or make him something. This can be asking him questions about his religion or demonstrating what they have learned already!
Autumn 1- Discover Dahl
